This is exactly how it sounds. On our most recent instant challenge, we created towers using noodles, cheerios, and marshmallows. This time we weren't graded on height, we were graded on the amount of cheerios stacked. It had to be free standing, so that is where the other things come in. My partner and I had a good concept and got off to a skyrocketing start. we were able to stabilize it enough to where we could have 90 cheerios stacked on the free-standing tower. The record was 115 so we decided to keep going. It eventually got to where we needed to hold it while putting the cheerios on. once we got to 106, we decided to try and stabilize it. It fell over making an explosion of cheerios. If I did this again, I would add more of a foundation so it wouldn't collapse so close to the record. But as far as our teacher knows, we only ever made it to 90.
In spectra recently we did an instant challenge where we were given 30 pool noodle circle things, 3 dixie cups, and unlimited toothpicks. we had to build the tallest free standing tower with these. Me and my partner built one that stood 38 inches tall. The tallest one in my class was about 44 inches tall. We built a foundation, then started building up. If I did ths again, I would make more support. Overall, it was a blast. |
